What makes this guide different
Most remodeling sites show you a single national average and a phone number. We show you Atlanta's own numbers from the industry's annual Cost vs. Value report, the national ranges from current cost guides, and how the money splits between cabinets, counters, labor, tile and fixtures. Every figure names its source, so you can check it, and you'll know whether an estimate is in the normal range before you sign.
We also do the permit homework for you. Permits in metro Atlanta are issued by whichever government your address belongs to: the City of Decatur, the City of Stonecrest, the City of McDonough, Peachtree City, or the county if you're unincorporated. The rules, fees and timelines differ. Our permit guide lists each office and what it requires, with a link to the official page.
How it works
- Read up. Use the cost and permit guides to set a realistic budget and scope.
- Tell us about the project. Call or send the short form: what room, your zip code, your timeline.
- Meet one remodeler. We connect you with a licensed, insured remodeler who works your area. They visit, measure and give you a written estimate.
- Decide with no pressure. The estimate is free. You contract directly with the remodeler, or not at all.
Where we work
We currently cover four parts of metro Atlanta, each with its own local remodeling partner:
What to ask any remodeler
- Are you licensed with the State of Georgia? You can look up any contractor's license on the Georgia Secretary of State's licensing site.
- Who pulls the permit? The answer should be "we do." A remodeler who asks you to pull it as the homeowner is shifting the responsibility onto you.
- What's in the estimate, and what's an allowance? Allowances for cabinets, tile and fixtures are where budgets quietly grow.
- What happens if you open a wall and find rot or bad wiring? Get the change-order process in writing before work starts.
- What's the payment schedule? Payments should follow progress, not run ahead of it.
Common questions
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Atlanta?
It depends mostly on scope. Remodeling magazine's 2025 Cost vs. Value report puts a midrange minor kitchen remodel at $28,359 in Atlanta and a midrange major kitchen remodel at $79,591. HomeGuide's 2026 guide puts an average full kitchen remodel (same layout) at $15,000 – $50,000 nationally. Our kitchen cost guide breaks it down.
Do I need a permit to remodel my kitchen or bathroom?
Usually yes, if the work touches plumbing, electrical, walls or the layout. Cosmetic work like painting or swapping a faucet generally doesn't. Each city sets its own rules and it's the city, not the county, that issues permits inside city limits. See permits by city.
Is Kitchen & Bath ATL a contractor?
No. We're an independent guide and referral service. We connect you with a licensed, insured remodeler who serves your area, and you work with them directly on the estimate, contract and job.
What does it cost to use your service?
Nothing. Estimates are free and there's no obligation. The remodeler pays us for the introduction, not you.
Which areas do you cover?
Right now: Decatur, Lithonia & Stonecrest, McDonough, Peachtree City, plus nearby neighborhoods. More of metro Atlanta is coming.
